2003 vlx 600 no idle after max performance kit

    I installed the max performance kit with the velocity stack and backdraft dump out exhaust, my main is a 148 and my pilot is a 48 the needle has two shims. with the air fuel screw 2.5 turns out it only starts and runs with choke, the second I turn off the choke it stalls immediately. at 2.75 turns out it starts, smells a bit rich, idles rough then shuts off moments later. the bike only has 5000 miles and new spark plugs as well, how can I fix this and what might the problem be?

    When I have time (which I dont have much) I'm working on a similar problem with my vt750c2. You'll figure it out

    @Jacob Boucher if a bike only runs with choke, you are too lean, but your jettign is good so this means you likely have a vacuum leak. check diaphragm, and, did you plug the proper ports on the carb and leave the correct ones open? I can't tell you how many people have had problems tuning and what ends up being the issue is that they plugged the wrong ports or port or left ones open that are not supposed to be open lol! but also make sure your intake boot is new. the old one is worthless once you pull the carb out. you can even sit at idle and spray carb cleaner and think oh its sealed just fine..... but when you run the bike the vibration creates a gap and voila, vacuum leak. stick with it, youll get it man!
