My stock single carb needs a cleaning real bad. I am considering going ahead and getting the performance max tune kit but am not ready to upgrade to the stack or exhaust yet. Will there be any issues and upgrading and getting just the stack in the future or should I just stick with the stock carb for now? If I do upgrade just the carb are there any pros or cons?
@Keefer Gilliam clean the bike first, get it running well. THEN move on to upgrades. upgrading to a stack will be a bit problematic and not super easy to tune with stock exhaust. ideally you will wan tto do exhaust and intake at once. no cons, only pros to an upgrade of intake and exhaust. it wont hurt the bike as long as you tune.
@TJ What if i do the performance kit for the carb and no stack or exhaust? Then do both at the same time in the near future? Would the bike still be in drivable condition? Just trying to save myself from having to pull the carb off twice cuz im lazy and im going to have to buy new boots and gaskets for it cuz of the age. If its a terrible idea and i should do all the upgrades at once then i will though. Thanks for getting back to me and thanks for the advice! :)
@Keefer Gilliam that will not work the performance kit is not meant for a stock intake and exhaust it will not work, you will run way too rich, you are not saving yourself any time either. dont be a pussy, you will have to pull the carb possibly multiple times when tuning, this is what it takes to make a bitchin bike, dont be scared, take your time and be patient, you can do it! but DO NOT install a performance tuning kit on a stock setup. youre asking for problems. do the intake and exhaust together with a performance REBUILD kit because i guarantee that carb will not go back together the same once you take her apart. you will thank me later! LOL
@TJ That answers all my questions. I love detailed responses like that. I'll go ahead and thank you ahead of time for making me a little less retarded on the subject!
@Keefer Gilliam youre welcome! good luck and godspeed!
