Fuel coming from Float bowl air vent tube.

  • Hello! I have a 1998 Shadow VLX600. Fuel seems to be leaking from my float bowl air vent tube. Ive rebuilt the dual carbs about 3k miles ago (May/2026) with kit from TJ's. Worked great! May I ask for help on why my carbs would be leaking fuel from the vents?

Attached is the photo I used to figure what air line goes where.

    Thank you in advance!

Update: I took apart my carbs just to look, and found grit in the diagrams and on the needle. (Assuming the grit kept the needle from not sealing?) Im not for sure how it got there since I have a glass inline fuel filter and a new in the tank filter screen. I have a stock K&N air filter too. Plan is to clean carb wo full rebuild, then re-sync the carbs. Btw- the float bowl vent hole is the very bottom hole on the left when you open the bowl looking down.

Hopefully this helps others! Thank you!

  • It's really nice when people post solutions to problems. Nice work!

  • @Svgdtr even though you may have an inline filter, And replaced parts in your Old fuel lines can degrade from inside the stock fuel filter at the pump can degrade from inside if you're running a stock intake there could be dirt inside the air box inside the intake runners. its important to really double check everything upon reassembly. hope everything got resolved!
