G'Day Brains Trust,
The muppet I bought my bike from has cross threaded one of the spark plugs. I am just about to do a fair bit of work to the bike but removing the head wasn't one of them.
Now that this is inevitable, is there anything else you guys would do while I have the head off?
Should I replace the head gasket or are they pretty robust?
I am getting the bike rewired (it has been neglected and butchered in places) replacing the aftermarket CDI , regulators & relay packs, pulse generator pick up & gears & ignition coil packs with all original OEM parts.
Labour is cheap in Bali but parts are difficult to come by.
Your input is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
@Cainam bummer about the spark plug threads!!!
my recommendation si ALWAYS replace a gasket if you tear the bike apart. with the exception of the head cover gaskets which are fluffy rubber, all gaskets compress and donot return. its worth the time and money to replace. cmsnl.com is a good site to find wierd stuff and ricks motorsports electronics is a great site for electronics! have fun man!!!
Cheers TJ, Yeah I'm only hopefully taking the head cover off and I thought they looked like rubber gaskets.
I should have added, I have a back tap thread tool so hoping I don't have to remove the head.
Love the YouTube channel.
FTW
@Cainam sounds good man! the right tools always help!
