Loose Air Mix Screw Will Not Fall Out

Air Mix Screw is loose but will not fall out. Dual carb from a 2003 Shadow. Air mix screws are in recesses and both covered with grime. I got one out fine. On the 2nd, I used Q tips to clean. Screw has backed out fine, and I can move it and can tell it's loose; but I cannot get it to fall out. I've tried picking, rubber mallet, spraying with carb cleaner, hot water. Nothing seems to work. Could someone please advise?
