I'm relocating the starter switch, and eliminating the on/off toggle. The push button switch I got here doesn't allow for connecting the headlight cutoff circuit. I don't want to install an on/off switch for the headlight, so my plan is to just connect the black/red power circuit to the blue/white wire to the headlight dimmer. I am also installing an LED headlight. I know the headlight cutoff is to allow full power to the starter, but if I wire it the way I'm thinking, that won't happen. Just wondering if having the LED headlight on while trying to start the bike is going to cause a problem?
On my VT600, I removed the headlight cutoff circuit and installed a LED headlight. Zero issues starting for me. Even before installing the LED headlight, the stock headlight had no effect with removing the cutoff circuit.
@jeremybrown.inc you didnt mention a year make or model, but im going to guess you are referring to a honda shadow of some kind.
hardwiring a headlight is not advisable for these bikes. They are very picky with starting power. a headlight will make it more dificult if you dont install an on/off switch for the headlight. Theres a reason Honda designed a cutoff into the start switch.
