I bought a 1997 Honda shadow spirit 1100 for $1000 and I've been working on it ever since won't go above 65mph when I've ridden it and currently looking for an oil leak somewhere from the bottom of the crank case behind some jb weld should I get an new engine or rebuild this one ?

TJ Admin Staff memberModeratorMember who has the rights to delete posts, and ban members form forum if they violate the rules.@coxbrandon4403 if the case is cracked then you can buy a donor motor and replace the cracked part, or you could take the broken part to a fabricator - Wesley Hoke AKA nuumetal on instagram is great!
they dont make new parts for the bike and buying a motor could be tough because you would need pretty much the exact year and model of engine as yours since honda changed up wiring and stuff on some of the models and the pulse generator is not the same on all of them. you get the worng motor and your computer/wiring harness wont play nice. rebuilding it is prety cool and gives you the chance to upgrade and renew any worn parts.
