I just got a project 98 honda shadow. It sat outside for about 3-4 years. Got it running just by cleaning the carbs, but it looks like its leaking coolant. The overflow tube for the coolant constantly spits out fluid, and the radiator fan will not turn on. What are some things I need to look at and replace. (Really hoping it won't be the water pump)
It also won't shift out of 3rd, but im replacing the clutch wheels hoping that will fix it.
Thanks
@surfnskatebyerly if your overflow tube is pissing fluid then your radiator cap is not working. id also replace the gasket and the thermostat while youre there and replace the entire overflow line. they have a plastic fitting that can degrade over time and cause a blockage. . your overflow reservoir may also be too full, and the negine may be running hotter than normal. there coudl also be air trapped in the system.
once all this is addressed give the systema pressure test. =)
@TJ Thank you!
Now the not shifting out of third is most likely the clutch correct? I played with teh cable tension, and it didn't change anything. I'll be ordering the clutch kit from this website next week. Just wanted to double check.
@surfnskatebyerly youre on the right track! also adjust the shifter. is the oil old or new?
