I thought I was genius and decided to drill out the metal part of the lower 2004 VT600 handlebar bushings just a hair to fit the bolts of the TJBC springer risers through. So I managed to rip out the lower bushings. As in the metal came out of the rubber. How fucked am I and what options do I have now? Technically I do have access to a press and can press bushings in and out of the triple tree if needed, but that sounds boring. I feel like with slightly longer bolts I could just tighten these risers as is with some nylock nuts+washers on the bottom and send it.
@Denis Panteleev i dont understand the problem. pictures would help! 😁
@TJ will add soon! :D So basically I accidentally removed the original lower bushings that go underneath your beautiful brass riser bushings
@Denis Panteleev youre fine. put the finned risers in im guessing you havent seen the youtube video that shows people how to do exactly this? LOL! - how ot install risers on your honda shadow
That video shows you how to dril lout those risers. its just not necessary anymore since we developed risers that have bolts that will fit the steel bushing that you drilled out. however you can STILL run the risers even if you drilled the rubber out.
HOWEVER - it looks like you got the springer risers though which dont include the washer that goes on the bottom of the top clamp. so youll need to source some yourself.
Thank you, I have not seen that video before! That's pretty much what I did to mine, yes.
I'll just get longer bolts and washers then!
What do you think about Bar None (Australia) solid lower+upper bushings? Any plans to make your version?
