hello I just recently purchased the performance kit for my bike, and they added the velocity stack as a addition so I said why not.
From what I'm seeing from the TJ Customs YouTube I need to remove the airbox but there are no step by step breakdowns on how to do it and what I need. for example the videos I saw talked about cover plates but the website doesn't have cover plates so do I need them? I just need a little more guidance
@Justin Myrick yes you need to disconnect the stock airtube from the frame, the inatke goes through the frame to the filter under the seat. its a terrible design. you can block everything except the bowl and slide vents and obvioculy the fuel lines are important. you may need to scooch the wiring bundle out of the way to get the stack on the left side situated. you can use a vacuum cap on the PAIR covers, theyll have a big ol nipple.
ok cool i dont need to remove the whole air box I can just remove the tube? also I heard that you could lose mpg is that true for the honda shadow vt1100
@Justin Myrick the airbox is under the seat, its not necessary to remove, i just removed the filter so i could store stuff in there like tools, snacks and emergency rations LOL!
HAHA mpg is LARFGELY determined how yuou use the throttle, and how much weight is on the bike. no. tuning a bike with open exhaust and stacks allows the engine to achieve volumetric efficiency, you are letting the engine operate as efficiently as possible to create the most hp and torque available. if you rip on the throttle at every takeoff, your mpg will suck ass. another lesser factor is how well the bike is tuned if you are tuned too rich you will go through fuel faster because youre giving the engine more fuel than it needs. if youa re tuned too lean, you risk cooking the internals and damging the engine pretty quickly. the sweet spot is in the middle.
thank you so much lol also please answer my email my package got sent back to you guys and I really wanna get started on this project
@Justin Myrick im sorry i do not handle anything shipping or order related. If you emailed customer saervice they will get back to you asap.!
