2003 vt600 small coolant lines

The smaller hose coming from the top of my radiator is going to a fitting on the rear cylinder. Is this correct? All the diagrams I see have it going to the carb. Also there's two fittings on the intake, one on top and one on the bottom. What should I do with these?
