    i am looking at 2 shadows, a 1998 shadow 750 ace (rc44) with 41hp. and a 1984 vt750 custom with 71hp.  i love the looks of the ace, but the 1984 looks too have a bit more "fun" with almost double the hp. 

    when i would make the choice too fit the max perfomance kit. will the power equal out, or is the engine substantially different that is will stay low on the ace. the price difference between both is about a max performance kit so that is the question.

    for any that would react, thanks in advance.

    My vote, ask to test ride both, see how they feel stock. Pick the one you like more, then mod that. I wouldn't stress the hp unless it's what matters to you, which singles out your decision either way.

    I ride both to see which one you like the best and go from there. I have a 99 Shadow 750 ace and enjoy how much power it has as well as the sound/feel of the single pin crank engine.
