So I've been challenged lately getting my carb back into my bike and running.
week 1, rebuilt and get the bike back together, not running smooth, take apart clean, put back together, not running well, buy a ln ultrasonic cleaner.
week 2, take apart and clean in cleaner, go to reassemble, for some reason the float bowl gasket no longer fits after being installed for a week, it's too big. Order a rebuild kit for cheap on eBay for the gasket.
week 3. Replace gasket, assemble carb. Bike now sounds decent, but gas leaking from cracked accelerated fuel pump diaphragm. Order new diaphragm.
week 4. Assemble carb again, bike now runs and idles smoothly enough, ride is different. Diagnose with chat gpt. When I'm taking carb apart again, I notice an ever so slight bend in the main needle jet. Replace with the one that was in the carb, back when I started.
now the bike runs, drives, but performance is off from what it was before all this work.
Reach out to the contact page about what I can do. Hoping to get a new needle to see if that was the fix. At this point I will even buy it. The ai response told me to suck it up because the 30 day warranty is over.
so my overall question for the forum, what can I do? Should I remove a shim and continue to use the stock needle? Is there a needle I can buy somewhere else that will work like the tj brutal customs needle is intended to do?
any guidance would be very much appreciated.
thank you all!
