07 Shadow Vlx Deluxe 600, Brakes Question

  • So I'm having an issue with my brakes. So, my brake lever feels exetemely tight, like I can pull it very very little and it locks the brakes up. I have checked the caliper i can depresse it by hand when it not connected to the the brakeline, I just replaced the brakeline with a brand new one I ordered from the website, and I have a new mastercylinder, I am thinking that the mastercylinder is the problem.. I am at my wits end It has been one problem after another with this bike since the accident and I have replaced / repaired so much with zero experience doing so before any guidence would be great. Should I order another new master cylinder? Should the level only need minimal pressure to lock the brakes? is that normal? (the on that was on there before allowed me to pull them more then half an inch before they started to apply, my concern is that I'll go to try to ride and i'll end up flipping or crashing/dumping the bike due to them not functioning properly...)

  • If my master cyclinder is functioning incorrectly can someone please link me to a replacement part that is "Chrome" and a solid replacement that will work?

  • @Duo have you rebuild the caliper? you have mentioned a new brake line, and mc but made no mention of the caliper, if you were incvolved in a collision its very likely that the caliper is toast. the pistons can get tweaked in the cylinders and not move. id pull the caliper apart first. you can get a rebuild kit for the calipers and the master cyulinder from all balls. you may need a new caliper but before you set off the parts cannon, try to pull the caliper and take it apart.
