Dual Carb Mixture Screw Help

  • Hi guys! Ive recently brought my bike up to idaho(5000ft) from Arizona(1500ft). Ive had some issues getting it to cold start and idle smooth when hot. It also hesitates, sometimes dies when I crack the throttle. Otherwise, it runs fine and runs smooth in the other throttle stages. Does anyone have a specific process on how to tune the mixture screws?

  • @John Condie you are too rich, this is not an air fuel mixture screw issue. You need to go leaner on your pilot and main jets. the higher altitude means less oxygen, thus less fuel is needed.

  • @TJ can you expand on this? I just did the carb rebuild on my 00' Shadow Spirit 1100. Used 195's and 45's, dying off in 3/4 to WoT.

Buddy insists I need to pull the old washers from the needles and add them in to the new ones. I'm at 5,400ft. I appreciate 🙏

Also, is a replacement for the plastic nut on the each side possible? These are an absolute nightmare to work with because of the tension on them; or if you have found a decent solution yourself
