Backdraft pipe...Was recently given a 2002 sabre vt1100c2

  • Been through the shop and they claim the 2nd gear bogging out is due to stock pipes with no slip ons. Every place i can find suggests tj brutal backdraft pipes but those seem close if not shorter. Would those pipes require straight cut so baffles can be added?

  • @M3rc im sorry but a shop saying the bike is bogging becaus eyou need a muffler is BS.
thats a bad tune. i have tuned a bike with the crappiest pipes on earth and it can be done. you dsont need baffles unless youre trying to turn the volume down. now if you have a very restrictive intake, and open pipes, that can be a bit harder to tune. id siuggest opeing the intake with some stacks and then getting backdrafts and you will be able to tune just fine.

  • Same shop which is the only one in town said brakes wouldn't work with .4 so had to change to 5.1 brake fluid...thank you very much for the info.

  • I thought only in AZ were so many non qualified wanna be repair folks.

In some machines dot 5 will eat the seals right out of them. Id stick with dot 4 forever.

My bro just changed his 2001 pipes from straight pipes back to stock. It took 2 sets up mains and it was back blasting down the road.

Second gear lug is too much fuel. So either more air of jet it down for less fuel.

Dont ever go back to that fool.

  • @M3rc well heres the thing dude... your bike service manual literally calls for DOT FOUR brake fluid. DOT 4 is glycol basedand 5 is silicone based. 5 is pretty rare on anything modern. All the honda shadows need DOT 4. that shop is full of retards. 5.1 will ruin that brake system from the inside out. I'm sorry youre dealing with these monkeys man. that sucks.
