First Time Buyer

Hi!
I'm a new rider (just got my license yesterday). I have a total of 3 days on a motorcycle, all of which came from the 2 days at the range for the BRC (I had to retest). With that said, I'm looking to buy a motorcycle, specifically a cruiser.
Now, I'm not a tall man, standing 5'7. Being new and inexperienced, I know I want something used and with mid controls. I sat on a Indian Scout and didn't realize how awkward it felt with my legs outstretched and I could only imagine sliding back as my newbish hands give the throttle a little too much twist. Other than that, I loved how low it sat. I also have friends that have said don't get something too small, you'll outgrow it in a month. I also looked at the price of some Harleys that are +10 years old and my butt starts to hurt right around the wallet area.
Finally, after about a week of scraping the Internet and going to all the local dealers in my area, I've come across two potential motorcycles I'm considering. First is a 2015 Harley Davidson Street 750 for about $3,800. Seller says perfect condition, never laid down, aftermarket exhaust. The other is a 2016 Indian Scout for $6,900 from a dealer. I found a mid controls conversion kit online that I asked if I got it, would they install it and they said it wouldn't be a problem.
I'd like to stay under $8,000 but want something I can enjoy. I will be riding in city traffic and some interstate riding in the future once I'm comfortable.
