Starting Issue on 2005 750DC Shadow Spirit

  • I bought this bike about a year ago. It has been running perfectly since...  no issues. I decided to replace the front caliper and pads, took both tires off, new chain, all new forward controls and even a new battery. When everythig was all set and done, I go to start it, it cranks like you wouldn't believe, but it just won't turn over. And I am cycling the on/off switch, Petcock is in the ON position (even treid RES), I've been trying it in nuetral and kickstand up or down and still nithing. I checked fuel and the spark plugs were wet and smelled like fuel, and the carborator overflow screws (not really sure the technical name) poured out fuel... So I believe fuel isn't the issue. Now air... Air filter is clean, I sprayed starter fluid in the intake with and without the intake on, still nothing. Now spark. I decided to go ahead and replace the spark plugs... Well that doesn't seem to work either. I'm very lost on this... going to put it on a tender and try again tomorrow. Any ideas?

  • @SpiritGuy67 well i have no idea what happened between all your upgrades. changing tires shouldnt be an issue lol! im thinking during your battery swap something got fuckered.
pull a spark plug set it on the case and make sure youre actually getting spark when you crank the bike, pull all the plug wires, pull all the plugs, take one plug, set it on the metal fins and you shoul dbe able to see a nice fat blue spark. if no spark, then one of your safety interlocks is an issue, you got a bad fuse, or a wire got disconnected, pinched or grounded during the swap. thats my best guess,.
