Stiff clutch

  • Hi there,

I got one of your amazing Jockey shift/foot clutch kits for my 89 VT600, amazing workmanship... thanks.

I have an issue with a stiff clutch that is stopping me be able to use the foot clutch, it is just too painful on my ankle to control the bite point.

No matter how I route the cable (i have tried 2 new cables too), the clutch is just way too tight.

I know this is not a fault with the foot clutch setup that you provided, as I have the same issue with the clutch lever on the handlebars.

I have even tried replacing the clutch, with still the same issue.

Does anybody know what could be causing this issue, it is driving my crazy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Ruttz

  • @Ruttz have you lubricated the cable?

  • Yeh, I even lubricated the new cables.

  • @Ruttz id say its time to start doing some calf raises and ankle exercises, The foot clutch takes an authoritative foot but theres Hundreds of guys running them with no issue, im sorry i dont have more feedback for you. last thing you may wanna check, how work out and crappy is your clutch, is the pivot arm binding up and worn out? a simple hour job could rule that out.
