600 dies when throttle opens???

  • I have a 97 600 that sat for 2 years. I removed the air box. Cleaned the carbs. Non ethinol only bike. Carbs were spotless. All diaphragms looked great. Jets looked great. I reinstalled the carbs. No airbox. No velocity stacks. It's starts. It idles. But if I try to open the throttle. The slides bounce up and down rapidly and the bike dies.  I think the mains are 170. I know that's probably too big. The air fuel needles were around 4 turns out. Probably because of the huge jets. It's a Florida bike, no emission stuff. Please help.

  • @jjonesjjones1978 cant run these with nothing on the carbs. you need stacks on there or put the stock intake back together.
170 is insanely too big for that bike.
4 turns out on the air fuel mix screw is too far out.
    you didnt mention pilot size.

i suggest you watch some of the dual carb videos on the you tube channel so you get an idea of what you're doing. theres an entire tuning book in the faq section here too.
