Honda shadow 750 2006 tuning troubles

  • Hey everyone. I have a Honda shadow vt750ca 2006, that I have got a custom strait pipe exhaust, volosity stack, single carburetor performance rebuild kit and new spark plugs all from TJ Brutal shop. I have got the bike to start up immediately and idle good, however when I hold a steady throttle, it's getting too much fuel and running really rich. I've tried tuning it and even swapping out the pilot jets, but that hasn't changed anything. Any thoughts on what's going on would really help!

  • @Brayden Favitta it may be that you plugged a port that was intended to be open, your plugs arent gapped properly, if you are runningt he old ignition wire and resistor caps, ive foudn that just removing them ends up making them suck. the parts are almost 20 years old so i would just replace the ignition wires and resistor caps. heres a link tot he kit - t.ly/ksxAx And heres a link on how to install the kit - https://youtu.be/_U0XheccdJE?si=sTkxCe_9YIaQ99rD
additionally heres a link to all the tuning info you may need. - t.ly/0Oa-3

if it ran fine before hand then theres somethign that was either installed incorrectly or just something that was missed. its easy to overlook some small stuff if its your first time.
one of the more common mistakes is the jet needle, falls out of the carb and people dont even realize it, often throwing it away, its a small brass piece that fits in the bottom of the venturi and is installed from the bowl side.

  • @TJ  Before I rebuilt the carburetor and got the parts installed, the bike was having trouble starting up and ran rich under pressure. Now after rebuilding the carburetor and adding an exhaust and a volocity stack, it now starts up right away and idles well, however it still runs rich under pressure. Could the ignition wires cause this?

  • @Brayden Favitta what makes you say its rich and what is pressure? how are you pressurizing the bike? are you referring to a leakdown or c ompression test? perhaps you can clarify and we can go from there!
