1992 VT600 remove California bullshit

  Hey I'm pulling useless California bullshit off a 1992 VT600. This nipple sits behind the fuel valve body under the tank and was connected to some kind of hose line. 
  
  

  I think the hose went to the evap canister but I honestly can't remember since this project gets tabled from time to time while I work on 1 million other projects. 
  
  

  In the picture I have an old piece of random hose attached because if nothing is attached it just slowly spurts gas out. So my question is, what can I do with this? Can I just put a cap on it? Or will that cause problems when I reattach the tank and it's now facing down?

  @Rory DL Thats your tank vent, you can just leave it alone, just dont cap it. you dont have to have a hose on it.
