Tuning concerns with Max performance kit from TJBC

  • Good evening, I have purchased the max performance kit for my vt600 dual Carb. I'm pretty excited to finish up my carb rebuild and get on the road. I've had some downtime recently and I've been doing research on how to tune for velocity stacks and Open exhaust. I have found that velocity stacks aren't the best? And it's very hard to tune with both stacks and pipes? I just got done cleaning my carbs and I'm getting ready to put it back together, I'm just not sure if I should get a different air intake system besides velocity stacks, so my bike runs smoothly. Will my backdraft exhaust with my performance jets work with a ram air intake??? Idk I just don't want to screw myself over after spending a bunch of money on the rebuild kit just to have issues with both velocity stacks and pipes . (:

  • @Will Stocking get off the forums and get to wrenching. Its not hard to tune AT ALL. I run these on ALL my bikes and they RIP!!
Stop overthinking this and just rebuild the carbs install everything and you will be very happy! literally THOUSANDS of riders are out there enjoying this setup and the benefits. people love to talk shit online but ive been doing this for 2 decades and i have the experience and r&D to back up what i offer.
you can get my free e-book tuning guide here - https://shoptjbc.com/blogs/news/performance-tuning-book-lp
    That will help you tune.

I also have a great 4 part series on rebuilding those carbs on youtube and you can watch that here - https://youtu.be/gYLGWX_y_v8?si=vhfRdzXg1iGFAIEY

  • @TJ Hell yeah, thank you. I did it

  • @TJ if I have rebuilt the carb and the bike is running rich, what setting do you recommend the air/fuel mix being on? I currently have them both set to 2 (2 being straight up). This is my first bike and first time doing mechanical style work. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
