1988 1100 Carb replacement

  • Hello im scouring high and low trying to find a set of carbs for my 88 1100 and have only found one listed $700 and the seller wont verify if they were pulled from a running bike/if the carbs have issues. If anyone has or knows of a set of carbs that work i would be willing to purchase them.

Secondly if anyone knows of an aftermarket set that would also work in lue of OEM i would go down that road since im striking out finding OEM.

I purchased the bike a month ago and had issues getting it to run right. I had a the bike taken to an old timer who knows all the ins and outs of Shadows and he found that the casting was damaged when the previous owner attempted to rebuild the carbs.

  • @Justin Paxton i moved this to swap meet since youre looking for a part.
Unfortunately the carbs are discontinued. you can find some chinesium knock offs on ebay, but you may need to use parts from your stock carb to make up for the lack of precision. hard to say.

i did a search for VT1100 carbs and found a lot of options that arent $700 lol

heres a brand new NOS carb. =)

  • @TJ I'm very new to Honda motor cycles and I thought that the carbs for the 88-94vt1100 were different than the 95 and newer. If a carb from one of the newer styles will work then I can save a bunch of money but I have been specifically looking for the 88 OEM and those ones are the expensive ones, I actually haven't seen any chinesium ones for my year range. Again me being vary new I could just be looking in all the wrong places and I'm not sure of compatibility of parts from one generation to the next. Trying to avoid spending a bunch of money on parts that won't work on my bike.

  • @Justin Paxton the part numbers for the VT1100 carbs may be different  from year to yearbut ive seen a buynch of these and they all seem to be the same.

  • Get rid of them OEM vacuum suckers and get some Mikuni cable driven. Turn my CB 400 into a wheelie popping monster.

Ive used Dime City Cycles for carbs for decades.

  • @Eric Von Zipper youve never seen the 1100 carbs have you?  you cannot use a mechanical slide carb on these bikes beacuae the carburetor orientation is not vertical.

  • Ive done CBs for decades, pity I love mine.

After all these years, there is a use for those Keihins :-)
