Exhaust Stud Stuck - Any Advice?

  • Trying to install my new exhaust from TJ.  Rear pipe no issues.  Front pipe the stud (?) came out instead of the nut coming off...  Tried some PB Blaster overnight.  Still not wanting to come off.  I grabbed it by the middle bare portion in the vice and it's not in the mood to release.  Heat gun/torch maybe?  I don't want to eff it up because I need it to attach the front pipe.

  • @Jeff Coombs i highly recommend replacing the stud. you didnt say what model or year otherwise i could give you a honda stock number.

  • It's a 2005 VT1100C Shadow Spirit.

  • As far as I can tell from the parts explosion, it's this:

Do you have them on your site?  I'd rather buy from you even if it is only a $2 part :)

Should I replace all four originals while I'm at it or just the stuck one?

  • @Jeff Coombs Thats the correct part! Im sorry to say we do not sell parts like that yet but we are working on it.
if you only need to replace one, only replace one. gettiong ot the rear studs is a PITA, so count your blessings that you only got one that pulled out LOL

  • @TJ Brutal I got the replacement stud and got it installed.  I did get a spare just in case.  I'm trying to fit up the front pipe now and I think the top stud might be slightly bent because it's not lining up like it does in the back.  I can see open space between the header and the gasket.  I'm thinking I either try to nudge it over with a long piece of pipe or replace the top stud.  The top stud does look different than the replacement (no bare portion threaded all the way), but the replacement matches the one that came out.

  • @Jeff Coombs yeah id replace that top stub my man!

  • @TJ  Thanks!  Got it all resolved and just posted a little video of it.  Can't wait to get the carb done and the velocity stacks installed.
