I'm having the same issue.  2005 vt600. Neither new that came with the rebuild kit or old needle jet will fully seat into the main jet hole. 

TJ, saw your recommendation about replacing the manifold boot after you've removed a carb that's been on there for a while. Ever think about adding a boot to the performance kit?
