Hello everyone I am a senior and I just bought my first motorcycle. I was wondering if anyone out there could help me out? I would like to add passing lights to the motorcycle. I would like to wire them to a switch on the handle bar so I could turn them on and off from there. The trouble I am having is I don't know how to go about wiring the lights to make them work. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. Tom

TJ Admin Staff memberModeratorMember who has the rights to delete posts, and ban members form forum if they violate the rules.@midrider2 welcome man and congrats on the bike! im not sure what passing lights are, i only run a headlight and tail light on my bikes but any local shop shoul dbe able to do this for a song, you basically need a relay, a switch, and some wiring chops.
get a relay like this -
bolt everything up where you want it. decide where youre gonna hide your switch.
then build your relay circuit:- Terminal 30 (Power In): Run a heavy-gauge wire from the positive (+) battery terminal through an inline fuse directly to Terminal 30.
- Terminal 87 (Power Out): Run a wire from Terminal 87 to the positive (+) power wires of your passing lights.
- Terminal 85 (Ground): Run a wire from Terminal 85 to a solid bare-metal frame ground or the bike's main green ground wire.
- Terminal 86 (Switch Trigger): Run a wire from Terminal 86 to one side of your handlebar toggle switch. Connect the other side of the switch to a switched 12V source (such as the accessory wire or tail/running light wire) so the lights cannot be left on accidentally when the key is off
- Connect the negative (-) wires from each passing light to a solid frame ground or tie them into a clean green Honda ground wire
- Double-check all crimps, connections, and heat shrink.
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Turn the ignition key to ON, flip your new passing light switch, and verify the lights turn on correctly without dimming the main headlight.
