Hi, My name is Mike and I recently bought a 2008 Honda Shadow Spirit VT750C2F. I took an extended hiatus from riding about 10 years ago after selling my first bike (a 1997 Sportster Custom). I found TJ on YouTube as I was trying to decide which way to go on my next bike, and was sold on a Shadow by TJ's enthusiasm and obvious love for the machines. You're infectious TJ. You should get that looked at. So now I'm here, looking for a community to celebrate and commiserate with, and hopefully get help from and be of help to those that share the ride.
bro u done good! this thing is SICK
Heya, Mike. Glad you picked up the reigns again, and that's definitely a sweet lookin' ride, man.
@Conro.michael.j Thanks, man. I dig it. The pic is how I bought it from the previous owner. I chose this one over others I saw because it was already 90% of what I wanted, but I have plans for it to make it more 'mine'. My Sportster had drag bars like my Shadow does, but I'm a bit older now and my back says it's time to look into some mini-apes.
This weekend I deleted the PAIR/AIS SYSTEM and added the TJBC cover plates. The website says they don't fit my 2008 VT750, but they worked like a charm. After installing the plates and pulling out all the useless hoses and what-not, the mix needed a bit of fine tuning. Now I have zero afterfire or popping. Nice steady idle at a little over 1200 rpm. While I was at it, I removed the throttle return cable and cleaned and lubed the throttle sleeve. After removing some slack from the throttle cable, it's nice and snappy now. It was about a 5 beer job, so about diez equis. Took a nice long ride around town (the next day), including some highway to really open it up, got some breeze on my knees and some fresh bug guts on my vest. Doing fun shift.
