Hi, I bought the performance kit and the veolicty stacks.
It was installed with 144 Main jets and 42 pilot jets.
Originally my bike was jumping back and forth / tugging / lugging when accelerating up from low RPM's, so i ordered the performance kit and hoped it would fix the issue.
Exhaust is a open, so it does not have any resistance.
I started with Pilot 45 and 195 main jet and installed the needles with diaphrame's that was in the package with no shims. I can feel the change when it comes to a surtain RPM's. but when i just cruise in low RPM and if there is a slight angle upwards on the road my engine tuggs. its like its pushing the driveshaft for each piston burn, if i give it more throttle it will go smoother, but still tuggs alittle on low rpm.
from the VIN number and engine number it is a 1100c, made in USA modell. Engine is a V-twin with Vacuum needles.
I assumed it was just to mount and done, but using the velocity stacks it ran so poorly that i had to put the original hoses for air filter back. But it did not get enough air, so i took the cover for the airfilter and cut away the other half that is covered in the center so its formed as an egg more or less. But it worked, bike running smoothly on higher RPM,s and you really feel the engine working from higher RPM's (No Tackometer installed so not sure what RPM it start.
So i tried again and opened the carburators and was to try the pilot with 50 in opening, maybe it would be OK on low RPM's, but when blowing to check airflow, 1 of them had no airflow so could not install them, but used the 48 instead. gonna send a pickture of it to your support later on.
Still the same issue though, on low RPM's it tuggs when accelerating slightly.
I did not add any shims to the needles, its just out of the box and wondering if installing 1 shims on each needle will get rid of the low RPM's tugging ?
I have a BMW r1200RT and i can drive in 5th gear as low as 1500 RPM and it still pull the bike smoothly up to speed.
I hope someone has the knowledge to point me in the right directions
And btw: I read i have to drill a 2.5 to 3 mm hole somwehere for the diaphrames to work on velocity stacks, but there was no instructions on how to or where to drill this.
Hope to hear from you soon, i have been on off and on with the carburator several times and the air filter hose is a pain in the ASS to get back on again.
