2013 shadow 750 shaft drive issue

  My brother pulled the entire final‑drive assembly out of the swing arm tube, and now we can’t get it to slide back in far enough for the four mounting bolts to fully go into the mounting bracket. The splines seem to be lined properly, and it goes in a little bit, but we still need about an inch or two for the bolts to go in all the way to be tightened down...
