Change Spark Plug Heat Range?

  • Is there a change recommended to the heat range of the spark plugs based on the following?

I have a '95 VLX 600 dual carb bike that I am installing the TJ Brutal performance carb kit and velocity stacks on and have already removed the baffles from the stock exhaust. Is it necessary/recommended to change the factory heat range setting of the spark plugs? Any actual practical experience(s) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and keep the rubber side down!

  • Changing heat ranges useually has to do with fuel type.

E85 needs hotter plugs, 93 octane should not. When I used to race I bought pistons by the case. Would burn quarter sized holes in the center cylinder every other race. But man did we go :-)

Just fatten up the jets and you should be GTG.

Side note, reaming out stock cans is dumb. Buy some cheap cans. Better sound and pressure. Lollypops at least.
