Big and Tall!

  • Owned and ridden several Harleys so I know what my big ass fits on. What size Honda to build a rigid bar hopper? I'm 6'4" 265 36" inseam.

  • So the beauty of chopping and building your own bike is that you are in charge of exactly that.
You decide which bars, which footpegs, how low/far back the seat goes!

I'm a relatively big fella at 6'3" 220 and a pretty similar if not identical inseam.
My previous bike was a shadow 600, which was doable stock, did feel better with some forward controls, and I bet it feels great (as far as a chopped bike can feel great) with a springer seat instead of the forward controls for example.
I currently have a shadow 1100, which is less commonly chopped, has less parts available (for now), but is excellent for someone of a bigger stature.

When it comes to chopping honda's the shadow 600 seems to be by far the most accessible, cheapest and most commonly available option.
It's been done many times, parts are everywhere and they can be had dirt cheap.
Saw one recently on marketplace, running (rough) and poor paint work, for $200, which is absolutely nuts, because let's be real, you're going to have to tune it anyways after some new parts, and that paint ain't staying either most of the time!

And to top that all off, the 600 has an incredibly fun engine.
It may not be the single crank pin, spine rattling, arthritis generating machines that can be found in some shadows (like the C2 1100) or harleys.
(PSA, I have an 1100 C2, it vibrates but that to me adds a lot of character, love it)
But it is a relatively high revving, buttery smooth and exhilerating little engine!
