Here in 2 weeks i'm gonna purchase the max performance kit for my 2004 honda shadow 750 aero, and i can't find any great videos on taking the carb out of the bike. I am going to use TJ's videos on the actual rebuild process, but I just need a video showing how to take it off the bike. I also want to know if I should put the exhaust on first and the the carb back or the other way around! Thanks for any info
@Kaden Denker I'm sorry we do not have a video for this, but its really easy man, youve only got one carb and literally thousands of others have successfully removed their single carb with no issues. i do not have any single carb bikes in stock configuration so we dont have the ability to even make this video right now.
But, heres some tips - Youre gonna take everything off thats not coolant. The fuel line gets unplugged from the carb. And you unscrew the pinch bolt on the intake boot to pull the carb out. you wont retain any of the stock intake system except the slide vent hose. which is attached to the carb and is called out in several of my single carb videos.
DO NOT unscrew the TPS which is an electronic thing bolted to the side of the carb, it has a plug on the end that plugs into the wiring harness. dont unscrew it from the carb just unplug from the harness.
The rest of the rebuild process is explained in the single carb videos. you can do cabr first or exhaust first, doesnt matter. whatever you do, you cant do one then tune and do the other, you need to do both, THEN tune.
Hope this helps and have fun dude! youre about to see some gains!
@TJ Thanks for the info, it helped a lot! Looking forward to see the gain of the max performance kit! 🛴
Hi guys,
I've been out of the loop for awhile. I have a VT600 I bought a carb kit from y'all a long time ago. Anyway, I'm not as smart as I used to be so bare with me. I can get the bike to run but only at idle. When I twist the throttle it chokes out and dies.
what am I doing wrong?
also what size fuel lines do I need?
I had to reinstall the fuel pump thingy and the other thing since I couldn't get it to run right just by gravity feed.
im dumber than a sack of rocks now a days. Please help?
thank you
Correction I have a VLX600. Smh!!!!
@Jerry Craig The VT600 and VLX 600 are the same thing.
diagnostic tree is fuel- spark - compression. is the tank flowing fuel past the petcock? is the fuel going from the pecock to the carb? are you running stock jets? these bikes wont run without the stock air filter attached with stock jetting. is your idle turned up enough?
