Hello,
I have a 1994 vt1100 classic ~33k miles. Took me forever to figure out it was a california model with all the EPA vacuum line stuff and cannister. I'm very new to working on bikes and engines in general. I had done a first aesthetic build on the bike and im looking to do more which includes adding the dropout pipes that brutal customs offers. Obv you change the pipes and you gotta change the carbs and air intake. I have no experience tuning an engine it took me forever to figure out I wasn't putting one of the epa vacuum lines where I should have been since my bikes layout doesnt match any of the manuals' diagrams just to get it running again after taking it apart.
Will I have huge problems trying to use the performance kit and tuning the engine with the goofy epa stuff? does anyone know how to remove the Epa stuff to have the bike still run properly? Is this really dumb to do if I'm purely doing this for aesthetic reasons and don't have any real interest in better engine performance?
On another note I was looking to extend the forks to lift the front of the bike a bit for my tall ass (im 6'4") and for another accessory I want to add to the front. I know brutal customs doesnt make extensions for the 1100's. The mod looks pretty simple and machining parts for me is easy. Is there any reason I shouldn't make an extension like the other vt bikes for mine? are there structural concerns? I have to replace parts in my forks anyways which is why I was considering doing the extensions now.
Here's some pictures of the bike before I scratched it all up wearing a suit of armor on it. I couldnt get a photo to add to the forum so I just linked my insta
Appreciate the help!
