Howdy to all,
I was recently gifted a 1993 Honda Shadow VT600 VLX by my older brother as sort of a project, and I really want to get it running so I can show him. He said the bike originally ran but would always overheat so he wanted to hotwire the fan, and then said that one day he was riding and it just completely died and hasnt started since.
After that he ended up following along to a lane split video to chop off extra wires and now we get to the present where I have it. I have put in a new battery, I'm mostly certain that the carburetors work and that the fuel line works, however when I turn the key and try to start it using the button he installed, since he chopped the original start wires out of the housing, nothing happens, no whir or hum or click, just silence. There is no kickstand safety, or clutch safety. The wires for the clutch were chopped, and the kickstand one was ok to chop according to one of TJ's videos.
I have ordered new ignition coils, and I plan on ordering a regulator/rectifier I believe is what is called, and then new spark plugs. I also had the idea of maybe making my own wiring harness from scratch, but I'm very inexperienced with electrical work and bikes too, and cant find a simple step by step guide for my specific bike, so any and all help and input would be appreciated. if I do need to rebuild the harness myself, I want to run just the essentials for getting it to be rideable, so like whatever it needs to run, I wanted to add a switch for the fan so its not constantly on, and then I do like having the custom button to start it, and I don't have high beam or turn signal capabilities. so really just whatever it needs to run, the low beam on the headlight, and the speedometer as far as I know. Sorry for the rant lol, but any and all help is greatly appreciated, so thank you for your time.
