Well hello crew!
I am a forum virgin, so be gentle.
The entire bike is super easy to fix, but there is only one thing that is pinning me down to the point of "just ask".
VT600 - 2007 - TPS Adjustment
How does TJ go about setting this thing correctly I wonder? Maybe his advice is "don't f'n touch it"?
Haynes manual mentions 750 and up. The 600 the same then? Since cleaning the carb (removed tps) for sonic cleaner, all is well except rolling on the throttle from say 1/4 to full, isn't "smooth" anymore. Nothing was changed jet wise as before. Ran perfect before marking location and removing it. Carb had leaky gaskets and had to be cleaned up anyway. I feared the sensor may get ruined dunking it in hot liquid so that is why it was removed..the fear! Looks brand new now, but dealing with a "flat spot" twisting the wrist now. No back fires or sputtering, just an uneven (if you will) acceleration.
Apologize if I did not see any posts on the TPS or if I'm even in the right area here.
Any input would be great on adjusting this thing correctly.
Enjoy your oxygen
@John Lavigne man i am so sorry you removed your TPS. youre gonna have to just mess with it to try and find that sweet spot again. its totally ok to dunk it in the ultrasonic cleaner. i leave the plug out of the cleaning solution and just tie it up to a piece of weld rod over the tank.
If i ever have to remove a TPS, like, the butterfly is stuck or something, i use paint markers to mark the exact location of the sensor. just for future reference =)
@TJ Much appreciated TJ..bless your beard!
I will toss a torx bit in my pocket and go for a few rides to tweak it. No doubt swearing up a storm trying to get my hand in there with the tank on. Lesson learned. Stress is my own doing.
If it was fuel injected, I guess my mistake would get me chewing advil.
Thanks again!
@John Lavigne Thats the spirit! also, make sure everyuthing else about the carb is buttoned up properly. thos ejets may not be ok. some debris may have gotten lodged in a fuel passage, there may be an issue with the fuel delivery to the carb. just saying, its worth it to go through the carb, i replace all jets anytime i open a carb, its worth my peace of mind! if after all the adjusting you still dont get anywhere then its obviously not the TPS, but more likely something else internally. also make sure your intake boot is fresh and properly tightended!
Cheers!
