My mechanic was going to charge me way more than the price of this kit, which included the piston removal tool. AND I got to learn so much about how my bike works in the process. Going through the TJ Brutal vid step by step was also ridiculously helpful.
I’m a novice when it comes to working on bikes. So glad I took the plunge and do it on my own. his way I know more about my bike and how shit works and goes together. I took my time and cleaned the shit out of all the pieces - not sure a shop would have put as much effort into as I did. Plus I saved at least a couple hundo doing myself.
Never rebuilt forks before but with this kit and the YouTube video I was able to knock it out and it worked flawlessly.
Everything I needed to rebuild the forks on my 2003 VLX600. You will need something to knock the copper sleeve and oil seal into the top of the shock housing. I used an old bearing race I had at my shop but TJ uses a piece of 1½ PVC pipe to do it in his video. Thanks TJBC!
