Let me start by saying I have the black Acerus throttle and grips on my bike I love them, but I decided to go a different direction with the bike after a few years of use. So I decided to double down and purchased the brass set of grips and throttle assembly. Let me tell you that I’m pumped with what I received. They are beautiful so well crafted. The only bummer is that I did not get a sticker or a piece of candy with my shipment but still gave them five stars.
These things are built solid! Just what I needed for my Shorty fender!
I’m trying to decide if I want to paint it or just clearcoat it and leave it like it is. Decisions decision decisions I think it looks awesome!
I recently swapped the stock bars on my 2013 Honda Shadow Phantom for the Traditional T-Bars from this shop and was VERY happy with the new feel right away. The riding position and overall control felt awesome.
THOUGH… once I hit 50–70 mph in curves, the bike started to feel a little too shakey. I knew something had to be flexing. I was still running the original factory riser bushings (13 years old, mind you), and after reading the product description about how the stock rubber bushings get mushy over time and allow the bars to flex, it clicked immediately. That was 100% the issue.
These Honda Shadow Solid Handlebar Riser Bushings (Black) were exactly what I needed.
Installation was incredibly simple (check out the photos). I did one side at a time so I didn’t have to worry about alignment during re-installation. I used the top and both bottom bushings/washers as shown, and everything went together clean and tight.
Unfortunately, and completely unrelated, less than a mile after installing them, my clutch cable decided to snap on me. Bad timing! So I’ll update this review once I get that sorted and can properly test the handling at speed.
That said, just from the install and how solid everything feels now, I’m confident the brittle, flexible OEM rubber bushings were absolutely contributing to the instability. These solid bushings eliminate that flex and give you a much more direct, planted feel at the bars, which is exactly what you want when carving curves or making quick corrections.
If you’re still running old factory rubber bushings, especially on a bike that’s over a decade old, don’t think twice. This is a simple upgrade that addresses a real safety and handling issue.
Keep both wheels on the ground and keep on wrenching!
Everything I needed to rebuild the forks on my 2003 VLX600. You will need something to knock the copper sleeve and oil seal into the top of the shock housing. I used an old bearing race I had at my shop but TJ uses a piece of 1½ PVC pipe to do it in his video. Thanks TJBC!
I had to wait a little while to get these but it was well worth it. The grips are just the right thickness. The install itself was easy. Everything went together smoothly. The only hassle was taking everything apart: fuel tank, air box, push cable from the carb, the old handlebar, etc. My only gripe (if you can call it that) is that the bolts use an odd size hex. I was expecting for a metric even size like 3 or 4mm but the throttle area needs a 9/64 hex
Awesome parts everything fit great it comes with multiple set ups and the longer mix screws are a life saver
Great quality and well packaged. Even to the UK.
The exhausts are easy to fit and sounds mean! But doesn't drone going down the road.
Thanks TJ brutal custom team for the great product.
Nice new look, totaly in love!
Take note that you will have to extend front brake cable and speedo cable (if you intend on keeping those) and the bike will lean a lot if you keep the stock kickstand.
Awesome product from an awesome team of people. They can't do enough for you and we're very fast delivery even to the UK.
All the parts are spot on and quality.
And man, it really woke the bike up and sounds phenomenal.
Enough said
I bought these and found out I am old now. I fired it up, let it run for a few seconds, turned it off, then walked next door to apologize to my neighbors. They look and sound amazing. Bought these with the max performance kit. I honestly believe it truly sets the bike apart from every other bike on the street.
This 6" raised handle bars fit my 1998 Honda Shadow 750 perfectly and look great. I just had to reroute my brakes and throttle cable.
Thanks!
Made the bike performance 10x better. Together with the exhaust from TJ it’s a pair made in heaven!!
Only regret is not getting the next size up but it’s alright, they do the trick!
