VTX 1300 tuning

  • I just got a 06 VTX 1300R. I wanted to add the velocity stack to this like I did My shadow 750. I had absolutely zero issues with the shadow. I've had the carb off the VTX almost a dozen times. I've gone from no shims to .040 in shims a 55 to 60 idle jet and 195 to 208 main jet and variations of that. The only real difference in set ups is that I still have the vacuum lines on the VTX. The symptoms I'm dealing with are bogging under throttle, and starting and running only on choke. At this point I have .040 shim/60 idle jet/208 main. And air file mix at 2 turns out. I can start with no choke it idles great and runs fine at low rpm. I went to get on the highway and I'm bogging again. Definitely running rich. Too rich? What combination worked for other people. Other pertinent info is that I'm running dual cobra exhaust.

  • And all components are clean and new.

  • @Michael Crawford the pair valve son the heads need to be plugged. get vacuum caps, and zip tie them on. we are making plates for this bike but they are not finished yet.
