New Rider Question

  • Hello everyone, I found the YT channel and I've been watching a lot. I've never owned or ridden a motorcycle but always wanted to. I found a 2008 Suzuki M50 with 1100 miles for $2500. That seems too good to be true.  Would that be a good beginner bike?  I'm also going to look for a Shadow 1100 to tear apart and modify but I want an unmolested bike to learn to ride on. There doesn't seem to be much aftermarket support for the M50 so I shouldn't be tempted to change much on it.

I found a local place that offers a course for new riders and has 11 hours on bike training over two days plus a classroom portion. I'll be taking that for sure in the spring. If I buy the bike I have someone I trust to ride it home. They also offer an intermediate class I'd look to take after I get some experience.

Just looking for feedback on the M50 even if it's not a focus of the channel.

  • @TheJoeMan Im going to say no on the m50. Go find a VT750 or a VT600. taring into an 1100 is a very ambitious idea if youve never doen this. i would recommend against that honestly. a 600 or 750 would be wayyyy more your speed and have a much higher probability for success for ya!

  • First bike should be between 500-750ish. A lot of my students get rebels right off the bat.
