Th zip tie will probably be fine...but in case it's not, the bolt hole is stripped out for the tank on my 06 vt600. Would a helicoil be the right fix for this?
also, there's rubber at the bottom of the bolt hole? How necessary is this, in case I lose some drilling it out?
@James Everette dont helicoil anything you arent going to throw in the trash. Use a time-sert if you want to keep it.
the rubber at the bottom may be your wiring harness under there buddy lol! There shouldnt be any rubber in the hole at all. but on some models ive seen that hole go through to where the harness passes underneath.
Ah well...the steel zip tie is putting in work!
Attached a pic awaiting approval. I pulled out the rubber at the bottom on the gas tank bolt hole. It definitely looks like it belonged there.
