Drilling and Tapping

  Hello, I need help. I'm installing a new gas tank on my 2014 Honda Shadow 750  Phantom. I'm a bit confused about what bolt I should use?  The instructions calls for center punch the frame where you want the tabs to bolt to and drill a 5/16" hole.  You can then thread this with a 3/8-16" tap.  my question is do I need a metric 3/8-16 tap? Or how does this work?

  @Victor Castillo there is no such thing as a metric 3/8-16 tap LOL!  thats an SAE tap. you drill a hole witha 5/16 drill bit then using a 3/8-16 tap, you thread the hole you just made. so you can use 3/8-16 hardware.
