VT600/VT750 Mechanic

  • I'm not really into the Chopper/Bobber bikes, but I love the VT600/VT750 motors.  I have a 1989 Honda Transalp that originally came with basicly a VT600 (583cc) motor with a 5 speed transmission.  I replaced that motor with a 2006 VT750 motor with High compression pistons, larger cams, larger carbs and a Reluse Auto Clutch.  I have another Transalp with a NT650 motor in it, but it's not finished, although I've had it running.  It's been a lot of fun mixing and matching parts and pieces from the different motors.  I'm also currently working on a 802cc motor from a VT750RS.  Not sure what I'm going to do with it when finished.

  • @Tim German sound slike fun man! the transalp was deigned and built before the VT600 and one can see how honda made some adjustments to the transalp to create the streetable VT600 cruiser. They went from a 6 or 5 speed trans for adventure riding to a 4 speed transmission in the VLX focused on low end torque and relaxed cruiser performance. The VT600 used the same dual carb setup as the transalp 600 until 99 when honda changed the VT600 over to a single carbureted setup. They share many similarities for sure. Keep doing fun shit man! would love to see you post some pics of those rides here!
