2000 ACE 750 - Carb Issues

  • Last season I replaced a failed fuel pump - it was leaking badly. It ran fine for a while, but started hesitating so badly that it felt like the bike was pulling back and bucking. I have since replaced the battery, coils, ignition wires, plugs (they were BLACK!), & the regulator rectifier. I pulled the dual carb (did not separate them) and ran them through an ultrasonic cleaner. I put it all back together and had issues getting it started. It would idle a bit, and then die idling or immediately when cracking the throttle.

I purchased the stock rebuild kit from TJ, but found that the float needles would not even fit in the float seats, so I re-used the original seats. I've rebuilt this carb so many times trying to get this old girl running again to no avail. I'm frustrated and tired, and just want to get on the road again.

Now I think it's hydro-locked... same experience after using TJ's kit... used the 115 pilot jets which are larger than stock. I have stock everything and also deleted the emissions crap, capping the ports as in TJ's video.

I just got it to idle again, and it was pissing fuel out the exhaust.

Any suggestions? I'm at my wits end!
