Tuning velocity stacks 2006 600

  • Okay so I got the magnus upsweeps and the performance carb kit with velocity stack in my single carb 600. I put both spacers on just like in the video and I couldn't get it to stop running rich, took both out and thought I had it nailed and then it started to bog out under high load and now the air mixer screw is 4 turns or more out...do I need to put a smaller jet back in? Thank you !

  • Did you try just one shim on the needle? How sure are you that you're rich and not lean? Is there a strong gas smell? Did you tune the idle first, then get the idle speed right, then move onto midrange and WOT? What's your elevation?

Also, our carbs have a FUEL mixture screw. As you turn it out, you're adding more gas to the mixture. Tightening it reduces the gas. I believe you could have one or two things backward, and you may want to start from the beginning.

TJs rec is to start at the smallest jets with 1 needle shim and work your way up.  There's a lot of factors that'll change your specific situation, so unlike kitten mittens, carb work ain't one size fits all. Keep me posted, I'm curious what works for you so I can compare :)

  • @James Everette so been a min, finally had time to play with it without interruption lol. I ended up using all stock jets and one shim on the needle. Runs great.
