Tuning Question

  • Just installed the performance kit including velocity stacks and open pipes. I have a 50 main jet for the top end, that seems to be perfect, gives my good power at WOT. but on the bottom end I was running lean, I had a 48 pilot jet and was at about 2.5 turns on my A/F mixture screw and I would get bad crackling and popping on de acceleration from WOT (just following the tuning guide.) so I replaced the 148jet with the 150. Now I'm running pretty rich on the low end at 4 turns on the A/F mixture screw. Here's my question, do I go back to the 48 and bring the A/F mixture screw down a few turns? Or keep the 50 and keep backing the screw out until my bike stops smelling like a go-kart from a cheap tourist attraction? Am I doing this all wrong?? I'm not even really sure what the perfect mixture should be.
